It's raining

It's raining again. It has been pouring down for a few days now. Wait, did I write "down"? As my neighbour put it: "It never rains straight down in Gothenburg." Instead, the rain comes from the side, with a little help from the constantly blowing wind.

One consequence of the non-straight raining is that you start bumping into people. You are moving against the rain, so you hold your umbrella up in front of you, which means you won't see where you are going. Or you are moving with the rain in your back, and you're busy trying to hold the umbrella up in the right direction, and the people you meet have their sight shaded by their umbrellas, and "bang". Running into cold, wet strangers seems to be what you do around here to get contact.

The only good thing about the rain is that the snow is gone now. It tried to resist the water masses the first day, but eventually had to give in and melt away. Instead, there is big puddles of water everywhere you look, and don't try to walk on anything else than paved roads - you will ruin your shoes if you step on the water-sick grass areas.
